I just wanted to do a little write up about our residents poole harbour boat trip.We arranged to go through friends of dolphin which is a free boat that runs from poole harbour and is especially for wheelchairs and disabilities. We had a very warm welcome from the skipper and his crew as well as a fabulous day of sunshine. We left poole harbour to have a fabulous 2 hour trip around brownsea island taking in all the other local sights while we all enjoyed our homemade picnic. The crew on board where very friendly and so helpful as many of our residents were in wheelchairs.we were provided with tea and coffee and biscuits if we needed them half way around the journey. The boat has a capacity for 12 people and has toilet facilities on board should you require them.We booked our trip way back in March as soon as the booking office opens as understandably it gets booked up very quickly. There are 2 trips that run between March and September and they are the poole harbour boat trip and the wareham trip which will be our next trip as this one as a fish and chip lunch option. The friends of Dolhpin has just be given a queens award for this voluntry service and quite rightly so has it provides so many people in wheelchairs a chance to sail the seas and i can not recommend it highly enough so if your looking for a trip out with disabled facilities this is the one for you go on give it a try its a great day out.
